After staying in Geelong for 10 days we decided to head to 'Prom Country' about 3-4 hours from Geelong in the Country South Gippsland region of Victoria. Actually this is were I (Tara) grew up for some of my life! As a kids I remember green rolling hills, chilly mornings and wearing gumboots everywhere I went (high rain falls)… We had the chance to show our kids a snippet of my experience as a kid…many memories!

We organised to stay at the Shallow Inlet camping reserve (found it in our Camps 6 book) which is passed the caravan park and is only $60 for 1 week (no power, but daily cleaned toilets!), and an absolutely BEAUTIFUL spot!

We found our own little cosy spot amongst tea-tree bushes and 20 meter walk to the beach where there was great fishing!

Green Hidden Treasures

There seemed to be a lot of hidden treasures around where we were staying and I say hidden because not many people (growing up in the area) had mention how wonderful some things are. We decide to walk up a mountain to get a BEAUTIFUL view of the farming land and the prom

....and we found this funny 'treasure' on the way… what a great idea!

Microwave's are all the rage for mailboxes!
5 Star Bush Bathroom

We recently brought - after 4 months on the road - a solar bag shower…. (we showed within these 4 months! ;-). Sam got creative and did his best at having a '5 star bathroom' ;-) THe solar bag works well, but only when it a sunny day. We will be getting creative with ways to have a warm shower with our 'upgrades' :-)

RED sunsets

Everyone loves a sunset. There is something inspiring about them that declares the end of a day and a new beginning to another - what a blessing that we get to experience these!
Picture
Enjoying the Sunset!
A BLUE Surprise

Over the weekend we planned to do a short walk to some old Lime Kilns in the ears - get some history of the area. As we travelled the road that we thought was leading us to we just felt so excited by us kind of driving into the ocean - well so it seemed.
Picture
Driving into the Ocean
We got to a the end of a 'no through road' and OH MY GOD… what an out of the BLUE surprise! There was the A-mazing ocean inlet that just had such a magical feeling to it.
We forgot about the lime kilns and we just KNEW we had to explore this beach and glad we did as we found numerous rocky walk through caves and rock pools full of life.
We ended up spending over 2 1/2 hours there (which we went expecting!) just exploring this magical place… we haven't experienced a beach like this yet!

And just look at this BEAUTIFUL RED star fish we found!
oh and the Lime Kilns… we found them LOL…. as we trued around after exploring all the the rocks and water and we saw them… "oh there are the lime kilns" LOL …. Love that about life… 2 wonderful surprises in one day!
We put this picture on our Facebook Page asking "Guess how we got this fish…?"
the story is that we were given it by some spear fisherman who we got chatting with… they caught sooooo many fish with their spears that they wanted to give us this one…. and my goodness it was soooooo yummy!

Shining some light on BLUE-NESS

More blue… blue is my favourite colour… maybe thats why i love the ocean/beach so much…. gold and blue, does it get any better?

We walked to an old lighthouse which - yes was 'just' a lighthouse BUT the 'feeling' with it and the views were incredible… see for yourself!
Crab Hunting

I love those moments in life where you just feel inspired to do something… and crab hunting with the kids was one of those things. We were on the beach just playing around in the water and sand while Sam fished and then we noticed al these little crabs everywhere… so we decide to run along the beach trying to catch them… 25 little crabs in total, the kiddies were thrilled!
And of course we released them…
One thing that I'm ever grateful for is the chance to do my work outside. Most my calls with my Inspired Women Clients are while soaking up the sun either on a beach or in a beautiful park - like below.
Our first pack up in the Rain

4 month on the road and we never had to pack up in the rain… we have had rain, but it always seems to be a dry day when we packed up ….. But now we are no longer virgins at packing up in the rain.

We embraced the experienced and made it fun! The kids played in the car which they seem to like to do when we are packing up :-) works well!

Appreciating the beautiful contrast as we travel to our next destination
So much can happen in one week! We look forward to sharing more inspiring adventures with you!

Get out there and do it!

Over our weekend (being a long weekend, which we forgot about) we thought that we should do one part of the Great Ocean Road which we haven't done yet - Geelong to Lorne. I imagined cliff faces and sparkling blue waters and those golden sands…. and that's what we got!
Picture
Just as we expected, blue ocean & cliff faces
our first stop off was at the Famous Bell's Beach where surfing championships are held. We wren;t going to stop thinking that "it's just another beach" but we felt inspired… and glad we did, because this beach was so unique.

We looked over to the water and saw hundreds of surfers out there in the open… It was quite an amazing site actually… I've never seen so many surfers in one place!
Picture
Surfers galore (little black specs)
The uniqueness about this beach was it's sand. It felt different to 'normal' beaches. The sand was  a lot more coarse  to walk on (which you wouldn't noticed unless you were barefoot - which I almost always am). And it had this amazing contrast of black sand through the golden sand. Watch us on YouTube show you in real life what this beach is like.
Picture
Crunchy sand and black contrast
Tate recently got gumboots for the first time, and he just won't take them off LOL, but even he enjoyed the 'crunchiness' of the unique sand.

Snap happy…. here are some of our favourite pictures from Bells Beach
The drive to Lorne was something worth doing. The scenery was amazing and every time we would put the camera down… we would need to pick it up again.
The towns we drove through were REALLY busy and it wasn't appealing to us to stop off at any of them. But I was nice to see and get a 'feel' for the towns (they would be much nicer when it's NOT a long weekend LOL).

On our journey back to our camp we stopped by our new favourite victorian beach town Torquay for a play and run on the beach.
Have you experience different beaches and there uniqueness? Would love to have you comment below!

We journeyed from near Portland Victoria (Fitzroy River Camp Grounds) to Geelong, we had arranged to stay there for a week… but arrive a few days earlier, so in total we were there 10 days which worked out great as we had the chance to explore some things while I (tara) still ran my coaching business for a few hours a weeks.

How long has it been for you…?

We arrive in Geelong to stay at Surf Coast Holiday Park. And oh my god! they had showers LOL….. I asked the question on my Facebook page "how long do you think it's been since I've had a shower…?" That conversation was fun! Not only did they have showers but also En-suite sites… Our own personal toilet/shower block… I can't remember the last time I appreciated a shower so much! ;-)

BBQ dinner near the beach & Sand Doughnuts

Friday's are usually 'date nights' for Sam and I… this usually means that Sam and I take in turns each week to think of something special to do with each other (which usually involves the kids too, until they sleep). This week was my turn & I decided it would be beautiful and fun to head to the stunning Torquay beach for a BBQ, watch the sun set on the beach and get a DVD to watch for the night.
Picture
Yay it's Friday!!!
Zeus really appreciated the beach to run on, there is something so amazing about watching dogs run freely on the beach!

Charlotte had an innovating idea…. to make herself into a sand doughnut… First she went to the water with all her clothes on (as you do) and began to roll in the sand…. there you go… a SAND DOUGHNUT! Don't you just want to eat her all up!?
The great indoors

on saturday Sam decided that it would be fun to take the kids to an indoor play centre… but not just any ordinary play centre…. a magical themed play centre. We walked and play in Alice's Wonderland, Pirates & western playrooms. This was really well thought out! The way I saw it was an adults expression of their love of fantasy! ;-)
We did notice that our kids weren't fully involved like they would be if they were outside… So I think it's official… regardless of the weather our kids prefer to be outside, actually I KNOW that in particular when it rains, Tate is sure to be outside!

Letting go of un-structure

We let go of any routine, rituals or structure a while back…but now that I'm running a business of my own (around my family) and we are travelling full-time (which requires organisation) we have 'surrendered' to having some sort of, what I like to call 'Rhythm' to our lives. Part of this is Saturdays are now our 'pancakes' for breakfast day' (until we decide on something better). We had wholemeal pancakes stacked with honey & banana in between and a sprinkle of cacao nibs on top.
We would love to hear if you have 'ritual' days where to make an effort to do something with your family!????

As we planned to travel from Killareney Beach (Warnabool) to near Portland we planned on staying at a a free camp ground called the 'Sawpit Campground' which the name alone doesn't  sound very appealing but after a few looks online at other people's experience it looks like fun!

When we arrive there we were all excited and as we drove in we look for the best spot to camp… we drove around a bit further then…… "OMG, is that guy naked!?" a guy in his 50-60's we completely comfortable walking around this camp ground naked. Now, don't get me wrong , I fully support 'naturalists' but when it's in a public place where it is classed a illegal it made me wonder. I was concerned about my kids safety… then something else happened…

As we drove around further wondering how we felt about the nudist… knowing that we 'accept' it but the 'what ifs' flooded our thoughts, we came across a lady that was camping by herself (not many people do that!) and there was a funny feel about it. She stopped us and told us about how her tent had a rip in it from the high winds… and everything in me was thinking NOT to help her (which is un-like me) but I knew Sam would feel that he HAD to.

We found a spot which we thought we would camp… I got a head ache instantly which is usually a cause of fear, so I knew something was up. We plodded around a bit and everything lead to us not being comfortable there so we both agreed that we felt 'weird' and that we should find somewhere else to camp.

Sam offered to help the lady fix her tent. I chatted to her while he did that and got some history form her… in a nut shell she is sad, lonely and un-sure of what life really means for her. We left soon after with a sigh of relief and an inner peace.

Our little Piece of Paradise

The other camping option (besides a caravan park) near Portland, Vic was

Fitzroy River' Camp grounds. Not entirely free ($5per night or $20/week) but worth the $$$ for great spot we had.
Picture
Our Little Piece Of Paradise right on the River
We were thrilled that we listened to our 'gut feeling' and went with this place instead. And interestingly enough we met a couple there that know of the lady that we helped at the sawpit and she is known for her drunken outrages all through the south side of Australia!  How interesting HUH!

GREAT Fishing!

Fisherman thrive on Fitzroy river and the beach that it leads into. It wasn't long after we arrive that we wet the line (Sam did) while I dipped into the (shallow) river. Sam dropped the line in then a bite… one fish…. dropped the line in again… another bite 2 fish…. all within 2 minutes! Fun!

Picture
Abundant with Fish!
The next few days consisted of fishing, walking through the shallow river to the golden beach and just BE-ing happy, running Zeus on the beach, playing in muddy puddles and experiencing a pink sunset.

The truth is…

We were warned about the high winds that Fitzroy River can get, but we thought that it really could't be that bad. The winds were pretty full on, we found it hard to sleep some nights due to the tent lifting and swaying…. there was un-certainly… The following day it was suggested that if we move the trailer around so the wind in behind us that would be better so we attempted to do that and while we were doing this (in the high winds) the wind uplifted the tent and reefed it over and it got caught on our boat rack (on the trailer) and….. RIIIIIPPPPPPP………… GASP!!!! OUr hearts sank…. we 'thought' that it was the end of our home for a bit…. I asked Sam to run for help while the was using my body weight to hold the tent down - which amazingly lifted my body and I flew for a few seconds!

Helped arrive! 3 men come to help us in the tradition of moving around to a better spot. They assured us that it's totally fixable
Picture
the hole in the side of our house
We did a temp fix until we could find a canvas repairer to fix it properly. The small moved we did was well worth it, we were much more sheltered and we had better sleep at night!

Campfire Goodi-ness

I must admit I'm just love playing with fire…. I mean I love to light them, cook with it and keep it flaming away!

My first recipe actually didn't require any cooking at all, they are called APPLE NACHOS- an all raw, fun, easy snack. Everybody loved this!
Picture
Apple Nacho's a Yummy Snack (or meal)
Of course with every fire there just has be be some traditional damper made. The past few times that we have done it we have done it in foil but then we got reminded by some fellow campers that you can do it on a stick - in fact this is the ONLY way I used to cook this when I was a kid camping with my family. After it's cooked we drizzled honey down the center..... YUM!
There is something very satisfying about building a fire, lighting it and using its natural energy to cook and keep you warm as well as add a fun atmosphere to camping!
Picture
Sam preparing the fire
Backed potatoes are a favourite of ours. I bake the potatoes in foil and place them in hot coals for about 45mins. After they are cooked I cut a hole in the top and scoop out all the potato into a bowl cook up some bacon with mushroom, peas & onion, mash it all in the potato (add some butter or milk if needed) and then put the mash back into the potato skin…. YUM!!!
For something different I tried sweet potato which was outstandingly yummy!

Picture
Sweet Potato Stuffed.. YUM!
While we were cursing around one of the local towns we found something unique (to us) and we just HAD to try it!

The can itself looks so cartoon like LOL… the taste was quite nice!

Have you ever tried this famous Duff beer?

Tara

From the Great Ocean Road we were hearing to the end of it - which is Warnabool - and we had planned to stay a week at Killarney Beach which is just past Warnabool (which is a lovely large township by the way!).

When we arrived at Killarney Beach Caravan Park we where like "what the….?" there was a cricket oval…. then a play ground…. then cravens…. all round the cricket oval…. A little confusing as we have never seen a park like this before!  So I guess from the confusion of "will this be a good place to stay" we began to feel a bit distributed because it wasn't the norm of a usual craven park… You know that feeling when something NEW pops into your experience and you weren't expecting it as suddenly you're all defensive - well that was us LOL.

A Constant struggle…. or not?

One of the things we often struggle with, with caravan parks is that their site JUST fit out whole camper trailer set up… in fact a lot of the times we 'over' by just a little, but we do our best to 'fit in' LOL. The funny thing is though is that it ALWAYS fits ;-)

The sites at Killarney looked too small for our whole set up - which made us more anxious, because if we could't stay here we needed to find somewhere else ASAP… which can also be an intense experience.
From Feeling Sh*ting to …. Oh F*ck!

Bad vibes seem to cause to make any situation about 10 times worse. a bag of Mixed emotions were going on… you know when one thing piles on another and before you know it you have a shitty situation!

Our trailer requires the annex come our from the back of the trailer so this means that if the park sites are not drive through we need to un-hitch the trailer and manually turn it around. In this case this is what we needed to do.

We were offer help by fellow campers to help push our 1.2 tone trailer around so the annex could face the road (mainly so we can keep an eye out for the kids). As we were turning (Me - tara- directing the front) I noticed some skinning…. I mentioned it to Sam, but he had the determination to keep going 'just to get it done' type thing… as we went the jockey wheel dug into the sand and i suggested to stop…we stopped but then tried to push the jockey wheel THROUGH the sand… which in the end we ended up with a bent jockey wheel which was unusable!
Picture
The Hole we Dug with our Jockey Wheel
There is ALWAYS help when you need it!

We took a breather for 10 mins just to 'think' about it (which isn't like me) but this time I felt there had to be a change of attitude to help change this situation. deeeeeeeeep breath….and "where's that beer!!!" ;-)

We needed help with this one… we needed emergency repair on our jockey wheel and out of all the tools we carry we didn't have the right one this time.

We asked for help from our new neighbour and he was more than willing and VERY handy (thanks Rob)!

Picture
After the Jockey Wheel was Fixed
After we decided to feel good to change our situation we began to enjoy our stay!

Pipi's, shell fish, butterfly shells…..

Killarney beach is ABUNDANT with Pipis (some people call them different I think it depends where you are from). Fellow campers would come back from the beach with bucket loads of them to either use for fish bait or cook up.

Picture
Shelling Pipi's
I learnt a wonderful and super easy receipe that makes them taste delicious!

Soy sauce garlic & worchshire sauce…. NUM! I'm not a big lover of sea food but I LOVED this!

Picture
Enjoying some Pipis
Fish n Chips!

Killarney beach is known for its good fishing so Sam was eager to 'wet a line' and catch something that we can eat. We love the idea of living off the land! Sam caught 2 snapper (YUM!) that he made into homemade fish and chips - PERFECT lunch!!!

An unexpected Guest

As the kids and I were walking to the beach to walk Zeus in the morning we heard a cat meow…. I thought that was strange….. I heard it again, it sounded more kitten like and like it really wanted someone to find it…. so I went seating in the beach scrub and found a 8 week old kitten…. obviously left there for someone to find and love. It was VERY cute & super friendly and the kids were thrilled to nurture something smaller them  themselves. It was really hungry so we fed it things we had, left over chicken - gulp! tin salmon - gulp! cows milk - gulp! mashed up dog food - gulp! - it WAS hungry!

To keep or not to keep was the question. It could have been totally possible to have a cat on the road - lots of people do it, but we felt it would require more time and effort which we are already trying to find that balance in our lives now. So we called up the RSPCA and decided to allow it the chance to have a home with another loving family.

Sometimes all you need is some fun in the sun!

We got a yummy 38 degree day on our last day at Killarney Beach. As the day went on we were all feeling overwhelmed again and then it occurred to us… "why don;t we go to the beach?" so we did, and it was the best decision ever (had to walk a whole 200m LOL) - we needed that separation from what was going on to the 'great outdoors'. I remember feeling like this when we lived in a hours too and KNOWING that we just HAD to get out to make everything feel better!

I wanted to share the importance of having time for yourself and MAKING this happen, So I made a video of me swimming with the ocean while delivering an important message >>>

The change this creates - when you do something you love is incredible! so go ahead and organise yours now!

See you on the happy side!!! :-D

Tara

As we travel we meet a-mazing people along the way…. and one of the great benefits of connecting and forming new friendship is that people always want to share their experiences and their 'favourites' about certain camp spots, actual this is how we camp… by word of mouth. And as we travel along we find ourselves sharing our experiences to every other free spirit we meet - and THEY appreciate it… its one big cycle!

Johanna's Beach - Great Ocean Road

We actually weren't planning on staying at this beautiful (free!) camp ground, but glad that all circumstances did lead us here.

First impression where like… "hmm this is nice…" to ooh, wow this is great.." to "OMG is this really free?"

check out the video we put together of Johanna's beach camp ground
We thought we were only going to stay for one or 2 nights but seriously, how could we resist this beautiful place?? Not only was the place beautiful but something that makes it this way is the people camping around us.

We meet (once again) some fabulous new friends.. well to tell you the truth our kids were the first to make friends. Our kids adopted some grandparents… 3 couples to be exact! ;-)

there is something magical about Johanna's beach…. even though we have seen many beaches they all have different 'vibe' to them and all have their uniqueness about them

The reception at Johanna's isn't that good so I had to make do with this for an office….

Inspiration from the beach

We had wonderful warm weather the entire time… lots of time to feel the rays of the sun on our skin. I felt so inspired by johanna's beach - which has spectacular shells and all sorts to collect, along my walks along this beach I found a piece of sea weed dried up and it was really strong so thought I could use it as i would string for an anklet that I would put shells on them which already had perfectly carved holes in them (from them washing up I assume).

Apollo Bay

We headed into Apollo Bay for a look…. We weren't sure what to expect, but again there were beautiful beach lining the road into the town and it just worked perfectly with the contrast of the blue skies. We walked the town and foreshore and found some fun sculptures to explore while we were there.

Pretty, but not so pretty for...

Johanna's beach is not really a safe beach to swim at. As beautiful as it was to look at only the more experiences surfers would generally soak into it. BUT we found some cool little 'bath like' rock pools which were deep enough to soak in (considering there were no showers etc)… the kids enjoyed exploring them too.

We also found a river that runs from the ocean which at high tide you can swim in it

Sand Art & Sun Loving

We got our creativeness on in the sand and began to create and sculpture things with the kids. Check out Sam sand snake!

Blue skies reflecting off the blue ocean… there is certainly something magical about it. We're sun lovers and 'worship' it by playing in it ;-)
While we were staying at Johanna's we couldn't resist seeing some of the local waterfalls and rainforest walk.

Take our advice and stay at Johanna's Beach Free Camp if you're passing through you won't regret it!

We were determined to do all the walks surround Halls Gap - the Grampians and boy were we Glad we did. The scenery is like nothing we have experienced before. some walks were challenging and others were too easy (for us ;-)

Balconies walk
The Balconies walk was one of the first walks we did. When we arrived there is was sooo windy (not so cold though) which made making a video interesting LOL. This walk had so much character to it. We saw 'rock art' - small piles of rocks stacked on top of each other… there were thousands of them though, never seen this kind of thing before!
We also found random seats carved out of fallen down trees…. and we saw a DOPHIN!!!! A rock dolphin. At the end of the 2k walk we saw the 'Dolphins head' and Tara - being her adventurous self - decided to walk out onto the rock (technically not allow), but it was well worth the experience!
To get a feel of what we experience watch out entertaining video :-) >>>
Chasing Water Falls - MacKenzie falls
Oh my god! I (tara) looooooove water falls, it so far this is the best I've seen. I love it because you actually not only got to see it but also 'feel' it and dip you feet into the fresh water AND take the challenge of climbing up a radome rock of the shore line ;-) (in video)

The first water falls we came across along the walk were the 'split' falls which were truly amazing… something like 4 or 5 water falls in one, A-mazing!
The walk on the way back was a great challenge…. but Charlotte almost walked all the way up ALL the stairs. It was such an incredible experience and would do it over!
More waterfalls - Silver Band Falls
There was an Interesting feel to silver band falls walk…. it felt a bit 'devastated'. We read that the floods back in 2010 had wiped out a lot of beautiful things about the walk and also decreased the actual size of the falls, but it was still worth the look. Once we got the the falls the kids had a ball exploring the rocks and throwing them into the water as well as being able to have a drink of the flowing water… I just HAD to! ;-)
See it all - incredible look out
This amazing look out was a whole 600m walk! The views for the platform were of all of Halls haps and a beautiful ridge line of the Grampians! It was breath taking and inspiring. ONe person we spoke to there said that he come there regularly just to get inspired… and funny thing is was he not only was inspired by the views but also by our story of travelling…. he 'wished' he could do that… so we told him "You can Live your dream!" :-D
Pinnacle hike
We left this walk to last…. as we heard that it was quite challenging (we were told by many), so we wondered how we would go hiking up 5.5k with the kids on our back (15kg & 11kg)… But I tell you what it was THE best hike we have ever done… I cannot explain just how amazing it was…everything about the walk was so beautiful! I captured as much as I could on video so that you can get the feeling of it all to. it Took us about 3 hours to complete (we mucked around LOL) and the video is minimised to 7 mins - that was hard LOL. Check it out, it will blow your mind!
Our favourite pictures from the walk >
We're headed for the Great Ocean Road next (we're already there, a bit behind on our blog posts)

What are you waiting for? Live Your Dream Life Now!

Inspiring views, amazing wildlife & the not so boring mini golf!
When we were at Rawson we some how got a information book (from an info center) about the Grampians. We actually thought that the Grampians were in South Australia lol. When we looked at the information our first reaction was "we just HAVE to go there!" so we did!

We spent 2 weeks at Grampian Gardens pet friendly tourist park which suited us perfectly! While we were staying there I (tara) offered to create a promo video for, they loved it >>>
Grampian gardens is like staying in the center of an animal reserve! The wild life was fan static and very friendly! Their cabins are spectacular and the camping is confront-able, highly recommend!
Be inspired with amazing 'rock art' ;-)
The Grampians have HEAPS of inspiring look outs and walks. Our first walk was the 'balconies' even though in this video I keep saying 'canopies' lol. The walk was supper easy and fun and the 'rock art is amazing! Check out the video and be inspired!
Best Culture Center We've Seen yet!
The aboriginal culture center was so inspiring, amazing and definitely the best we've experience so far. They have an interactive aboriginal history show, paint your own boomerang, bush tucker trail just to name a few things. We spent a few hours there exploring around the place.
Best Mini Golf Ever - in the Middle of the Bush!?
We were told by fellow campers that we needed to have a game of mini golf and try some 'homemade' pan cakes. San loves mini golf but I find it a bit Boring but I was willing to give it another shot and oh my god did we have a blast! I've never had so much fun golfing! The Adventure mini golf is 'world class' and it really was!!!! You just gotta watch our video it's full if funnies!
Because we saw soooo much while being at the Grampians we will be posting another post about our LIFETIME experience there! Stay tuned!

"If you can DREAM it you can LIVE it!"

We totally forgot about Australia day…. until we got reminded kindly by some people we were speaking with while we stayed in Rawson, Vic. I remember this day last year (2011), we gathered friends in our backyard and had a BBQ & Beer - as you do. and a slippery slide and we made a 'big thing' from it all - as you do. But since we're on an endless holiday everyday is like a holiday to us - hence why we forgot about Australia day.
Picture
Happy Aussie Day from the Freedom Family!
Although we forgot we had such a GREAT AUSTRALIA DAY near Arrarat, Vic at a beautiful ($5 per day) spot right on the lake where people where swimming, canoeing, boating & fishing & about 35 degrees when we arrived - a REAL Aussie feel to Australia day, thats for sure!
As soon as we got there we began to unpack while the kids played in the water…. BUT when we unpacked…..we had to pack up again….. watch the video below to find out why
So after that fun adventure :-) we had the most perfect spot right on the sandy banks.

We stayed 2 nights before we headed for The Grampians which was only 'down the road' (1 hour away to Halls Gap - where we were staying)

Wanna know what Australia Day means to us?

Don't delay it any longer - get out there and DO IT!!! get in contact with us if your read-y to LIVE your DREAM life! See you somewhere out there!

While we were staying in the Alpine country, Victoria near Mt Beauty we were stressing about 'where to go next' - I know a funny thing to stress about! But seriously, it was a tricky decision to make. We needed to go back to Gippsland (Latrobe Valley) for some commitments that we had, and this is where the arguments began LOL. We thought we could stay in a craven park near where our appointments were but they were asking double the $$$$ since the school holidays were going….. thinking thinking thinking…. We felt like being in the bush away from everything….. think, think, think… LOOOK!!!!!!! On our car we have a sticker of "Where the Hells Rawson" we visited there once to their 'Stockyard' Restaurant which we loved, and brought a sticker. Its been on our car for about 2 years, and like always at the RIGHT place and the RIGHT time the sticker was useful!
Picture
The Sticker on our car that inspired us
Off we set. You can read about our wonderful experience driving throughout the night over the Alpine hills here
When we arrive at Rawson we thought "YES!!! this is exactly what we need"

It was a beautiful bush setting with minimal people - perfect for us! we planned 10 nights there

Rawson was part of the 'gold fields' era so there was fun exploring to do as well as spending time with my (Tara's) clients over the phone - full reception there too!

Most days consisted of Four wheel driving, wood fire collection, swimming in a cool creek, cooking in a fire at night, feeding King & Princess Parrot, watching kolas walk by and waking to the sounds of bell birds in the bush.
We experienced an A-mazing walk called the 'Horseshoe Bend' this history is that this was man made when the gold rush era was about to help 'flush' the creek to make it easier to pan for gold, it was amazing in more ways than one because the walking tracks were so vast!
Sam thought that we needed to take snacks on this hike, I thought that we would be ok.... and as it turned out nature provided wonderful snack for us - Black Berries & Mint plant galore!
Sam spotted this tranquil (hidden) swimming hole along our walk, so we couldn't resist having a dip!
Like always, we meet people where we stay. We met a beautiful couple from the UK who the woman's name was also 'Charlott'e & loved ice cream LOL (same as our charlotte) & Tate found a new mate. We met the 'Chappochino Nomad' (because she's just not ready to be grey yet ;-) - we shared some insights into how she can live out her passion for traveling while writing her own blog & making money from it, along with swapping travel stories > I'll post her blog page soon when she starts it (hint hint ;-).
We meet an inspiring family who battled the fierce fires (black Saturday) back in 2009 who had everything burnt in the fires, they shared their stories, red wine & marshmallows around the open fire.
Sam was inspired to start his small hobby of 'Sam's Camp Coffees' because who doesn't want an awesome REAL coffee while camping? Maybe I'm byest but I think that Sam makes the best coffees ever! - and I've tasted many! See for yourself >>>
The highlight for my kids was having the chance to get filthy dirty everyday! They played in the dirt, rolled in it, threw it as each other…. FUN!!! LOL The battle was trying to get them to wash up at night - thank goodness for bath toys LOL!
Our time was up at Rawson, as always we move on at the right time :-)
Next stop >>> The GRAMPIANS (Halls gap), Vic!!!

Keep it REAL - LIVE your DREAM!
