So living on the road seems all Rosie from a glance but like with anything in life you just don't really know what it's like until you experience it for yourself!

I remember before we begun to travel 6 months ago (can you believe it!) that I slightly feared weather... I feared living in a canvas thin walls as I imagined that they wouldn't protect like a solid house structure would. But that fear soon disappeared as I was so determined to live the life of travel and figured we could just follow the good weather.

BUT whatever the weather there will always be challenges. Weather is unpredictable and I actually like this about it. I love that it can be rainy one day and sunny the next. I lie in bed at night wondering what the next day will be like... I like that element of surprise!

Considering the rest of my family - particularly our kids can make me nervous in combination with unpredictable weather. I know I can keep myself safe but what about 2 other lives!

Recently (couple of months ago) we had a full on experience with wind of 61km winds. Now that doesn't sound like much but I can assure you it was full on and it seemed to get worse each day out of the 7 days we were staying on the coast of Victoria. We could have moved but in this instance we felt stuck for the first time in a travels. We were waiting on our next lot of income to come through - this felt like the longest week ever!

Living with....
Through this experience with wind we soon had to learn very quickly that we had to accept it not reject it. When we felt high strung things like massive hole in the side of our tent happened....
After a meltdown and lots of cursing and wishing that a house with solid walls would pop up in front of us we felt that we needed to be smart... To go with the wind not against it, learn to live with it rather than complain and resist it and wish for something better. Amongst the vet restless nights with our tent moving in, out up and down we still managed to live with it and find a new appreciation for it
Picture
Living with The Crazy wind!

As I write this post we are experiencing consistent rain. At first we resisted it... Thinking we can't wait to get away from the 'bad weather! What is 'bad' weather anyhow? Some consider bad weather as too much humidity or rainy or windy or coldness... This helped us to reconsider so called bad weather. We figured that we need to 'bad' to make the good. Rain helps grass grow, sun feels nice when it kisses the skin, rain can feel refreshing like new beginnings, wind can feel high energy which can remind us to be settled in our own bodies... It all effects us and I personally think it helps us grow so much. We have learnt so many things from the weather - aka mother nature! We  have learnt that we can be one with it and adjust accordingly!
We often wonder how people native to the lands would cope with different weather... The answer is obvious... They adjust and accept whatever weather comes their way, they don't resist it, they respect it!

I'm listening late at night to a beautiful lil with creek trickling water through it... It's so calming and peaceful. The funny this is that people buy those fake water fountains in stores for this effect! I feel so blessed to be experiencing it now! Thank you rain! :-)
Picture
Lil Tranquil Creek flowing from rain

I love living the life we live! Not because it's easy but because in addicted to this great land! We have learnt so much from allowing ourselves to 'feel' places... Not just visit them. We are not the type just to 'see' places we would much rather feel places meaning that we open ourselves to new experiences and this affects our personal growth in a HUGE way. We are way different from 6 months ago that we are finding it hard to adjust to the 'new us' but we love it and wouldn't trade it for anything!

Get out there are begin to 'feeling' places with your family- you're life will change even if it's just day trips, it all makes a difference! Believe that!

Here's to your freedom!

The last 4 weeks have been full on! I always try to blog here at least once a week to keep in contact with you but so much else has been happening which is causing us to think about what we are really passion about.

We are not going anywhere! In fact part of the reason of our busyness is that we are taking action on our inspirations. We are expanding our communities (sam's passion, my passion and here - our combined passion)! We're excited - if you can't tell! ;-)

Anyhow, what have we been doing??? Well lots n losts LOL. I hope that you're connected with us on Facebook, because we do post there daily.

Okay so I'm (tara) writing this blog post from the Adelaide Hills, in a little town that we have taken a liking to - Kersbrook! Maybe its their FABULOUS wines??? ;-P We haven't been in Kersbrook for the past 4 weeks though. We left to the Flinders (not sure that we would come back down) but we felt such a heart tug. We have formed some really great new friendships and we can sort out some of the 'logistics' in our life like: New iphone and ipad & buying other stuff you just can't get to up in the 'desert' :-)

The drive to our first stop in the Flinders - Hawker - was spectacular, we were NOT expecting the beauty of it. I mean we have seen pictures of it, but it truly is so different when you experience it!
Picture
Driving the Flinders Ranges

We found an amazing big Gumtree that was a 'tourist-y' thing. It was MASSIVE!!!! Sam and I giggled like little kids (as our kids slept in the car) running to the big gumtree and wondering how we could climb it :-)

Hawker was a little town. we stayed for only 5 nights at Flinders Ranges Caravan Park. While we were there we experience some amazing walks which just blew us away with the history of the Ranges and Aboriginal paintings from years ago!

Cave exploring, rock climbing and specular views… We actually shot Sam's first ever 'Survival with Sam' film which will be 'revealing all' soon - okay I'm such a tease! ;-)

Picture
Aboriginal Cave exploring Walk

We love wild life and we found a baby  lizard which we gently picked up and gave it some love… and I touched RED dirt - that was a dream come true for me  - yes it's the simple things that please me and I'm proud of it!

Aboriginal Cave drawings and exploring .....
Enjoying our walks.....

After we left Hawker we came across 'Station Stays or Farm Stays' through a really great website. We called Beltana Station right away as they said the exchange work for accommodation and we wanted that exact experience! We weren't sure what to expect, but I tell you that is was way more than that… The Flinders Ranges is explained to be the land of healing and spiritual connection… thats EXACTLY what we felt being there! Anyone who goes there says there is something special about it… some can't explain….. You just have to BEB there yourself!
Picture
Beltana Station
While we were staying at Beltana Station I suddenly felt the urge to write 'my book' which has been brewing in me for a while now (years) but as always the timing is always right! I made the decision and have announced it and it is happening!!!! If you want to stay in touch about this head over to my blog.

Over the weekend of our stay there we went on a 4wd trek around the 1/2 million acre property - thats MASSIVE!!!!! Of couse we didn't do the lot we just did a few hours worth.
Picture
Where the hell are we??
we were amazed everywhere that we look! History, scenery, the feel… everything! It was awe-some! couldn't get enough!

Picture
An old hut we found & had lunch in ;-)
Some of my favourite pictures...

Beltana is known for it's free range animals, in particular 'Chocolate' the very friendly Alpaca! We would often wake early in the morning to him trying to steal our bread LOL. He has such a personality. Sometimes while I was working on the computer he would be standing right next to me poking his nose in my business.  The kids loved him!
Picture
"Chocolate" with his Alpaca & Sheep Friends & A Tiny Lizard that found us
One this I was amazed by was the natural water springs and creeks… they are very magical… we spent hours at a time just being there… cooking damper on the fire and the kids even played in the water. The sun was kissing our skin…. about time! LOL

So tell me… have you seen sunsets like this???
Picture
Sunsets at Beltana Station
this is 3 days worth of sunsets at Beltana right in front of our camper trailer… every night was so different and the STARS are amazing! You just HAVE to experience it for yourself or join us on one of our Freedom Family Getaways…… more of that later LOL - I know teasing again! ;-)

As I write this we (sitting in the Adelaide Hills…. just a bit cold ;-) We are actually going back to Beltana in a week time….and then…..wait for it….. DARWIN!!!!! OMG sun and warmth and swimming and ooooooooh yeah!!!!!!! LOL I will miss South Australia though…. so much had been able to transform for us while behind here…. The feel of the place is pretty awesome (if you're into that kinda thing)… and will miss our *new* friends.

I'll follow up next week. In the meantime please connect with us on Facebbok & Twitter AND YouTube we love to have you there!

When I heard people talk about the Adelaide Hills I thought "They're hills, how exciting can that be" but the people I spoke to assured me that "it's beautiful and you must go there" so we took their advice.

Our initial introduction to the Adelaide HIlls was a very twisted one (hahahaha ;-) we took a wrong turn and went through seriously windy road to get to our friends house where we would set up camp on the acreage.
Picture
Winding through Adelaide Hill roads
This view of Adelaide city was 'almost' worth all the windy roads ;-)
we did finally get there (about a 1 1/2 detour!) :-)

Most of our week was full and busy - I had an influx of opportunities and clients for my coaching business. So in some ways it felt really productive and other ways I felt like I just didn't have enough time for everything.

Sam cooked for us and our friends that we were staying with overnight for the week - we thought it was a good exchange for some power and a place to stay. Every night was a feast with a bottle of red! Well deserved after  busy days for both me & my family and my friends from AER online solutions (if you want a website built, I can highly recommend them!)

On Wednesday we visited the Big Rocking Horse - When I was about 5 or 6 I went their with my family and I remember having a picture taken in front of it! So I felt that strong urge to go back and so our kids.
After Charley and I climbed the big rocking horse we went to visiting the 'toy factory' where all handmade wooden toys existed… we were in our element!
We then noticed that they had a free range animal farm that you can go into and hand feed all the animals. Our kids love animals and sop do we so we knew that everyone would love it. Goats, sheep, alpacas, ducks, cooks, kangaroos, wallabies, lyrebirds & emus (think that all LOL) - we spent ages in there - feeding, patting, having fun!
Get a good feel of The Big Rocking Horse by watching our video
On the Thursday our friends needed to visit clients in the area of 'Sterling' - they told us its one of the 'major towns' and it had a nice alternative feel to it so we followed them to this town which was so…. 'cute' and amazing… it had a real 'German' feel to it, with stone buildings and all. I personally love the 'alternative' store… like the healthfood stores! YUM!!!! I was in my element!
Our friends had planned for us to experience a bit of the Borossa Valley (wine country!) over the weekend… My friend Amanda and I we're told by our partners that they would happily look after the kids while we did some wine tasting! oooooh yeah!
The first winery we stopped off at was so 'flash' almost a bit too fancy… their wines were awesome though
Picture
okay, so Tara was a little hypo ;-)
We also stopped off at the 'Whispering Wall' which is basically a big weir for town water but it has fabulous acoustic effects… check it out in our video below for a laugh :-D
One winery we went to was wonderful for the kids and adults. They had an animal farm attached as well as a massive play area for the kids  - while Mumma's and dadda's enjoyed some tasty drinks!
Picture
delicious wines.... Mmmmm....
We left Adelaide Hills on Monday headed for the stunning Flinders Ranges….. But we will be retuning to the HIlls because of their amazing wine! LOL and people and I would love to spend my 26th Birthday there with my friends, good wine, campfire and a horse trail ride!

ooh, almost forget…. this is how Amanda (CEO of AER online solutions) and I spent our well earned Friday night

As we left MIllicent we headed along the coast line to a town called Robe…. It was truly a perfect day to explore this beautiful, alternative little town!

When we park our 'rig' we felt such a relief… Fresh air, sparkling water & a few hours of exploring new things
Picture
First Impressions of Robe, SA
We walked the town first noticing that it had a bit of an 'alternative feel' to it.

Picture
An old house that I liked in the main street
We stopped off at the local ice-creamery to experience the fuss ;-)

Picture
Local Ice-cream!
It was such a beautiful day that we needed to 'soak it up' so we sat on gene grass while the kids played and watched the sparkling water.
We needed more…. so we headed to the info centre to hear whats around and then we set off around the town more to 'soak it up'.

The ocean really is so close to the road we felt like we could easier drive into the water off the cliff!

We found some old ruins of a Gaol (Jail house), which had some fascinating history to it (who needs school ;-) and we explored and ran across what used to be an old jail.

More Robe Beauty

The nights in kingston were freezing but the days were spectacular!

Picture
A fav pic!
The foreshore beach was amazing for collecting large shells to make 'Mermaid Bars' from!
Picture
Painting Sea Shells
One morning Sam taught us (me and kids) and some fellow campers on how to hunt for Pipis (or cockles) - we had a ball!

Big Things

Kingston is home to the Big Lobster

We love big things lol…. and Australia seems to be full of icons like this! Unfortunately since we got there late we were unable to buy any local seafood because they were closed :-(

Right next door to the Big Lobster is an amazing Tractor museum which our little boy Tate LOVED! He loves tractors - anything with an engine really!

Bigger n better things to come - as always!

Heading for Adelaide Hills next!

We spent our first Easter 'on the road' in Millicent South Australia. Good friday consisted of Sam creating hot cross buns from scratch (thinking that they would last until easter sunday!)
We used out cast iron pot to rise the yeast and bread in… and since it was a cool day I (tara) thought it was a smart idea that our car would be the perfect 'warm place' to raise the bread - and it worked!

The buns didn't even last long enough to take a picture!

GRATEFUL MOMENT!

As we travel we met so many people and one thing that I love the most about living the way that we do is that our children are exposed to all sorts of people - different nationalities etc. This one day Charlotte wanted us to read her a book but we were both pre-occupied so she took the initiative to ask someone (that she obviously trusted). She asked a french man to read her Dora the Explorer book to her and he said that he doesn't speak much english so Sam suggested that he read it in French… and so he did…. and charlotte LOVED it! Cam cam away from it with her eyes bright with new inspiration! I love that!
Easter Saturday

We spent Easter saturday (with a new friend) exploring Mt Gambier which has some A-mazing volcanic history and great scenery.

Check out the 'Blue Lake' - it really is that blue (from the limestone apparently!)
PLAY TIME!

Our friend then lead us to a lake and playground up the hill from the Blue Lake and we just couldn't resist a play!
check out this funny video of Tate doing chin ups… he really knows how! ;-)
LOVE THOSE KINDA DAYZZZZ

We love those kinda days where we allow room for unpredictable activities…. basically it's exploring! :-)

We found a Tower to explore… Wasn't expecting it to be a steep incline all the way up….
But it was worth the hike!
The history with the tower was interesting but more so was the old live volcano that used to live
Magic in the Centre of Town

We then headed into the centre of town as we heard of the 'sinkhole' right in the middle of the town… so we just HAD to experience this!

We came across some interesting sculptures before exploring the sinkhole
The entrance into the sinkhole 'cave gardens' was magical!
The history of the cave gardens is also amazing and what a great feature for the centre of a town!
Our Friend then told us of another sinkhole close by that he just knew we would love to explore.

We have Never have seen beauty like this!

The Umpherston Sinkhole…. OH MY GOD! It truly was something I never imagined to have experienced…there was something truly amazing about it…. not only the size…
Our Friend then told us of another sinkhole close by that he just knew we would love to explore.

I Never have seen beauty like this!

The ulphenton Sinkhole…. OH MY GOD! It truly was something I never imagined to have experienced…there was something truly amazing about it…. not only the size…
But the pure beauty of the green-ness and the chance to open our minds to something that mother nature herself has created and ENJOY it!
The kids had such a great time running through the gardens (which reminded me a bit of Alice in Wonderland) and smelling beautiful flowers.
There's only way way to finish a day like this…
We heard of the Tantanoola tiger…. and we read the 'many' stories about how it all came about, so of course we were curious so we headed to the town of Tantanoola tiger to see this so call 'Tiger'…. we got there, and saw this
We stood with beers and ciders in hands discussing whether or not this really was a tiger…. our theory is that its a wild dog with a VERY interesting story!
An Easter we will NEVER forget!

Easter Sunday we planned to do an easter egg hunt with the kiddies and give them their other chocolate that we got for them. When we woke we had this greet us outside
Random I know. The caravan Park had gifted us a bunch of chocolate eggs and an Asian lady camped next to us (who was a fruit picker in the area) gifted us a bag of THE most DELICIOUS apple ever!

We where sooooooo grateful for these beautiful gifts!
BUT WAIT THERES MORE

Just as the kids where merging from out camper trailer 'Easter Bunny' laid even MORE eggs out all around our camp!
fellow neighbours we so kind to gift us even MORE easter gifts! We could hardly believe the generosity!

This was not about the chocolate…. this was about people's willingness to love and gift in this way AND for our kids to see and experience that love, gifts etc can come from any direction if you're open to it!
Time is up!

A few chilly days fell over Easter and until we left that week, but as always we take these opportunities to light a fire and gaze, cook & poke :-)
Our Video of  our experience in Mt Gambier

"We did it!" as Dora the Explorer would say!

We made it to another state!
Picture
It feels good being in another state!
We are now embracing the things that South Australia will offer us…we wonder what will occur during our time here… That's what adventure is all about!

I want to share this video with you for fun…. Swing with us… It will make you giggle I'm sure LOL >>> OUr fun in the park just before leaving to cross the Vic border to South Aus.

We're staying a neat park - when I say neat I mean "neat" - i't s immaculate and the park carers do such a great of the up keep of the place.

AND they have a sandpit which our kids have been there almost full time!

We have a nice cosy spot amongst some great neighbours
Picture
Night View of our little possie
We haven't done much exploring since being in Millicent but we plan to over the Easter Weekend… so Watch out for an adventure post next week!

guess what we're making…..?

We always try to find reasons to celebrate! Life can be a whole celebration…

We spent our last night in Warnabool Victoria, and as we walked along the beach we began talking about all the things that has happened for (and against) us over the last 3 months we have spent adventuring in Victoria.

Before we got to Warnabool we spent 4 nights at Mt Elephant near Hamilton. The $5 per night camp ground offered fabulous view of the lake and mountain which used to be a live volcano!

What is adventuring?

Our lives are packed full of adventures…. and let me explain what adventure actually is for us (and all travellers will agree):

IT'S
- challenges

- highs and lows

- laugher

- fun

- seeing the bright side of life

- turing challenges into changes

- Having $4 in your bank account

- Meltdowns

- Overwhelm

- Fabulous views

- breathing in fresh air

- Tears of joy

- Being grateful

- Making do with what you have

- Re-thinking

- Reflecting

- Sharing

- inspiring others

- Being Inspired

- Reapirs

- just to name a few…..

As I wrote those words I felt all those moments of different emotions…. People often think we have an easy life, But the truth is that it has being extremely challenging in more ways than one. This is not a holiday for us, this is our lifestyle…. but we wouldn't change it for anything.  All this helps us grow as people & a family unit… in 4 months we have grown personally so much that we have in a year being living a 'normal' life - INCREDIBLE!!!

The great thing about personal growth is that a lot of inspired ideas come with that and we have set some intentions for November THIS YEAR to hold something super special for you and your family which you're going to LOVE! So stayed tuned by singing up to our mailing list below
We celebrated our 3 months of 'adventures' with a BBQ, walk along the beach, dark chocolate & port while watching the stars twinkle in the clear sky

After our trip to the Prom country in South Gippsland we headed to Latrobe Valley to help Sam's dad celebrate his 60th Birthday…. if we here the word 'celebration'  where there!!!! :-D
Picture
Tate Enjoying Party Food!
During our 3 day stay Sam was keen to build a draw system for the back of our Nissan Patrol. We knew exactly what we needed and we knew we needed it. So with 2 days Sam build this amazing draw system for the 4wd from plywood.
Picture
Sam working away designing our draw system
Such an exciting moment to have organisation…. As any traveller will know - ORGANISATION IS BLISS!

Below is the before picture of the back of our car

and then after…… bliss!!!!

After..... ahhh.... organisation!
enough room for useful junk and the dog. We even put a cargo net in attached it to the roof for easy to grab things such as rain jackets, hats, bathers etc.

We're thrilled about this!

If you would like to know more about 'how' Sam built it e-mail us at FreedomFamilyLife@gmail.com

After staying in Geelong for 10 days we decided to head to 'Prom Country' about 3-4 hours from Geelong in the Country South Gippsland region of Victoria. Actually this is were I (Tara) grew up for some of my life! As a kids I remember green rolling hills, chilly mornings and wearing gumboots everywhere I went (high rain falls)… We had the chance to show our kids a snippet of my experience as a kid…many memories!
Picture
Goggle Image of Wilsons Prom, Vic
We organised to stay at the Shallow Inlet camping reserve (found it in our Camps 6 book) which is passed the caravan park and is only $60 for 1 week (no power, but daily cleaned toilets!), and an absolutely BEAUTIFUL spot!

We found our own little cosy spot amongst tea-tree bushes and 20 meter walk to the beach where there was great fishing!

Green Hidden Treasures

There seemed to be a lot of hidden treasures around where we were staying and I say hidden because not many people (growing up in the area) had mention how wonderful some things are. We decide to walk up a mountain to get a BEAUTIFUL view of the farming land and the prom

....and we found this funny 'treasure' on the way… what a great idea!
Picture
Microwave's are all the rage for mailboxes!
5 Star Bush Bathroom

We recently brought - after 4 months on the road - a solar bag shower…. (we showed within these 4 months! ;-). Sam got creative and did his best at having a '5 star bathroom' ;-) THe solar bag works well, but only when it a sunny day. We will be getting creative with ways to have a warm shower with our 'upgrades' :-)

RED sunsets

Everyone loves a sunset. There is something inspiring about them that declares the end of a day and a new beginning to another - what a blessing that we get to experience these!
Picture
Enjoying the Sunset!
A BLUE Surprise

Over the weekend we planned to do a short walk to some old Lime Kilns in the ears - get some history of the area. As we travelled the road that we thought was leading us to we just felt so excited by us kind of driving into the ocean - well so it seemed.
Picture
Driving into the Ocean
We got to a the end of a 'no through road' and OH MY GOD… what an out of the BLUE surprise! There was the A-mazing ocean inlet that just had such a magical feeling to it.
We forgot about the lime kilns and we just KNEW we had to explore this beach and glad we did as we found numerous rocky walk through caves and rock pools full of life.
We ended up spending over 2 1/2 hours there (which we went expecting!) just exploring this magical place… we haven't experienced a beach like this yet!

And just look at this BEAUTIFUL RED star fish we found!
oh and the Lime Kilns… we found them LOL…. as we trued around after exploring all the the rocks and water and we saw them… "oh there are the lime kilns" LOL …. Love that about life… 2 wonderful surprises in one day!
We put this picture on our Facebook Page asking "Guess how we got this fish…?"
the story is that we were given it by some spear fisherman who we got chatting with… they caught sooooo many fish with their spears that they wanted to give us this one…. and my goodness it was soooooo yummy!

Shining some light on BLUE-NESS

More blue… blue is my favourite colour… maybe thats why i love the ocean/beach so much…. gold and blue, does it get any better?

We walked to an old lighthouse which - yes was 'just' a lighthouse BUT the 'feeling' with it and the views were incredible… see for yourself!
Crab Hunting

I love those moments in life where you just feel inspired to do something… and crab hunting with the kids was one of those things. We were on the beach just playing around in the water and sand while Sam fished and then we noticed al these little crabs everywhere… so we decide to run along the beach trying to catch them… 25 little crabs in total, the kiddies were thrilled!
And of course we released them…
One thing that I'm ever grateful for is the chance to do my work outside. Most my calls with my Inspired Women Clients are while soaking up the sun either on a beach or in a beautiful park - like below.
Our first pack up in the Rain

4 month on the road and we never had to pack up in the rain… we have had rain, but it always seems to be a dry day when we packed up ….. But now we are no longer virgins at packing up in the rain.

We embraced the experienced and made it fun! The kids played in the car which they seem to like to do when we are packing up :-) works well!

Appreciating the beautiful contrast as we travel to our next destination
So much can happen in one week! We look forward to sharing more inspiring adventures with you!

Get out there and do it!

~ Tara

Over our weekend (being a long weekend, which we forgot about) we thought that we should do one part of the Great Ocean Road which we haven't done yet - Geelong to Lorne. I imagined cliff faces and sparkling blue waters and those golden sands…. and that's what we got!
Picture
Just as we expected, blue ocean & cliff faces
our first stop off was at the Famous Bell's Beach where surfing championships are held. We wren;t going to stop thinking that "it's just another beach" but we felt inspired… and glad we did, because this beach was so unique.

We looked over to the water and saw hundreds of surfers out there in the open… It was quite an amazing site actually… I've never seen so many surfers in one place!
Picture
Surfers galore (little black specs)
The uniqueness about this beach was it's sand. It felt different to 'normal' beaches. The sand was  a lot more coarse  to walk on (which you wouldn't noticed unless you were barefoot - which I almost always am). And it had this amazing contrast of black sand through the golden sand. Watch us on YouTube show you in real life what this beach is like.
Picture
Crunchy sand and black contrast
Tate recently got gumboots for the first time, and he just won't take them off LOL, but even he enjoyed the 'crunchiness' of the unique sand.

Snap happy…. here are some of our favourite pictures from Bells Beach
The drive to Lorne was something worth doing. The scenery was amazing and every time we would put the camera down… we would need to pick it up again.
The towns we drove through were REALLY busy and it wasn't appealing to us to stop off at any of them. But I was nice to see and get a 'feel' for the towns (they would be much nicer when it's NOT a long weekend LOL).

On our journey back to our camp we stopped by our new favourite victorian beach town Torquay for a play and run on the beach.
Have you experience different beaches and there uniqueness? Would love to have you comment below!
